A Georgia Snowfall and a Baby Boy: Nixon’s Arrival | Augusta, GA Fresh 48 Newborn Photographer
It was a snowy day in Augusta, Georgia—something rare and magical—that set the scene for Nixon’s arrival.
On January 20th, 2025, Macee and her family welcomed their newest addition, a sweet baby boy weighing 6 pounds 10 ounces and measuring 20 inches long.
It was a day filled with nerves, joy, and love, marking the beginning of an incredible new chapter.
Nixon, originating from Nicolas, means “Victory of the People.” A strong name chosen with love. Macee shared, “Me and JP both really liked the name Nixon, and JP was the one who picked it out.” It was strong, unique, and perfect for their little boy.
Since Macee’s first baby had been breech, she and JP opted for a repeat C-section. With JP in school and limited on time off, having a planned delivery felt like the best choice. Still, knowing the exact moment they’d meet Nixon came with its own set of emotions. “It was nice having it planned, but also lots of nerves leading up to the big moment! Everything went so smooth,” Macee recalled.
That morning started early—4:30 a.m., to be exact. Macee and JP prepared to head to the hospital, their excitement building. Though the C-section was scheduled for 7:30 a.m., an emergency cesarean pushed things back, and Nixon didn’t make his debut until 10:32 a.m. Despite the delay, the wait was worth it. Dr. Gresham’s expertise made the process quick and seamless, with the entire procedure taking less than 45 minutes.
Macee described the operating room as a calm and supportive environment. “The nurses were sweet and just chatted with me while they prepped me for the C-section.”
JP was right by her side, offering encouragement,
while Macee lay on the operating table, a sheet shielding her view. “C-section is all I know, so you are just hanging out on the operating table, and there is a sheet covering you so you can’t see. There is conversation going, and I would chime in occasionally. I was nervous, excited, and ready for him to be here.”
When Nixon finally arrived, Macee was overwhelmed with emotion.
“Hi, little guy,”
were her first words to him. He was everything she had imagined and more. But before she could hold him, Nixon needed a little extra help breathing and was taken to the NICU. “He had to be taken to the NICU for a little extra help breathing, but he did so good! I was recovering while I waited for him. They kept him for 3 hours to make sure everything was okay. I was definitely emotional.
I just wanted to hold my baby,” Macee shared.
Those hours felt like forever, but when Nixon was finally brought back, the connection was immediate.
“Once they finally brought him in, I was so smitten with him. The newborn phase is so precious, and I was just so happy to have him in my arms,”
Macee said, her love for her son pouring out with every word.
The day had a special touch of magic, too.
“We watched the snow fall from the hospital window,”
Macee shared. Snow in Georgia is a rare sight, making Nixon’s birth day feel even more extraordinary.
Big sister couldn’t wait to meet her little brother, practically bouncing with excitement to hold him. JP, too, was filled with joy and relief that everything had gone smoothly.
It was a beautiful moment of connection for the family of four.
Of course, recovery wasn’t without its challenges. “Postpartum is rough.
Having your sweet baby makes it all worth it.
I remember a C-section was a rough recovery, but I forgot how slow you move at first, and
you just have to give yourself a lot of grace,”
Macee admitted. The journey wasn’t easy, but
the reward was beyond measure.
“I cried—it’s so emotional bringing a baby into this world. I just cried because I love him so much. It sounds so silly, but you are just so in love with this tiny human you created!”
Nixon’s birth was a day filled with love, resilience, and joy. It was a reminder of
Macee’s strength and the incredible bond of her growing family.
